RESEARCH is Crucial - While pancreatic cancer statistics are bleak, we believe we can conquer this disease through a commitment to fund research! The Michael J. Neustadter Pancreatic Cancer Fund was created in memory of Michael Neustadter in recognition of his courageous battle and determination to beat this dreadful disease. Its mission is to support the fight against pancreatic cancer and contribute to the discovery of a cure. Michael Neustadter lost his battle on January 19th, 2012, only a year after learning he had pancreatic cancer. Despite an early diagnosis, a healthy lifestyle and some of the best medical care in the nation, the disease proved too relentless to withstand. Michael spent his life helping others and giving back to the community, from his work with numerous charities to serving as chairman of the board of the
Atlanticare Health System. He would be proud to know that his name lives on as a catalyst for curing this life-threatening disease. Keith Critchley ~ Frank Giampietro

Chip In For A Cure Proudly Supports American Diabetes Association

Diabetes is America's fastest growing disease. Today, nearly 29 million Americans are living with this life-threatening disease, and it seems that diabetes touches nearly every life. Whether you have diabetes, a loved one has diabetes, or a friend or colleague with the disease, just about everyone knows someone who has diabetes. With your support, the American Diabetes Association will continue its mission, to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is usually diagnosed in children and young adults, and was previously known as juvenile diabetes. Only 5% of people with diabetes have this form of the disease. In type 1 diabetes, the body does not produce insulin. The body breaks down the sugars and starches you eat into a simple sugar called glucose, which it uses for energy. Insulin is a hormone that the body needs to get glucose from the bloodstream into the cells of the body. With the help of insulin therapy and other treatments, even young children can learn to manage their condition and live long, healthy lives.
